Gachagua’s Message to Mt Kenya Amid Talks of Beef with Ruto

Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua has called for unity among members of the Kenya Kwanza Coalition across the country.

Speaking in Narok County on Wednesday October 11, Gachagua asked the local leaders to work together in the implementation of the government projects.

“Two weeks ago, I started helping the president to unite the regions that support hid government. We are saying, before Turkana’s and other regions join let us unite amongst ourselves,” said Gachagua.

Further, the DP said his goal was to start with the regions regarded as Kenya Kwanza stronghold and extend to the regions dominated by Azimio.

“We have started uniting the Mount Kenya region, Rift Valley and here in Narok I want the governor and all the elected leaders to unite within the government. Afterwards we will go for the few individuals who got lost and found themselves in Azimio,” he said.

Previously, on October 8, Gachagua mentioned that he will focus on uniting Mount Kenya and Rift Valley as President William Ruto continues to unite the rest of the country.

Additionally, the DP stated that for the country to unite, all the regions must unite differently and join forces as one nation.

“How can we unite as a country if we are not united as a region? When all the regions are united differently, we come together and unite as Kenya,” said Gachagua.

Gachagua Dismisses Divisions

Moreover, the DP expressed confidence in President Ruto’s leadership and dismissed speculations of division in Kenya Kwanza.

“There will be no division in this government, President Ruto and I talk the same language. We consult, agree, and move on. The president is taking us to the right direction, and I will continue uniting his backyard in the Mount Kenya and Rift Valley region,” said Gachagua.

Government Spokesperson Take

On Tuesday, October 10, Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura dismissed reports alleging that there is a rift between President Ruto and his deputy.

Mwaura emphasized that President Ruto and DP Gachagua are the same thing and there were no differences between the two leaders.

“I think it has been overplayed with a lot of misquoting,” said Mwaura.

Further, Isaac Mwaura urged the media not to create a difference between the two leaders like it did with former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto.

“We saw it in the last regime, let the media not try to drive a wedge between the President and his deputy, they are one and the same,” stated Mwaura.

In addition, he explained that the president and his deputy are always together in many instances indicating that they are united.

Additionally, the spokesperson dismissed reports of the cabinet being divided arguing that President Ruto and his deputy are reading from the same script.

Government Shares 

Ruto and Gachagua openly differed on the issue of shareholding in government, with the President maintaining that every Kenyan has a right to be in government.

“I am the President of the entire nation, and you are citizens, therefore this government is also your government, do not worry, we are going to work together as people of Kenya, we are stronger together, we are weaker when we are divided, we do not want politics of division,” stated Ruto.

On the other hand, his deputy maintained that the Kenya Kwanza government will give priority to Kenyans who voted for Ruto’s regime.

“I am not apologetic, I have no apology to make to anybody for instigating that only those we know well who believe in President William Ruto’s vision should be entrusted with sensitive dockets,” Gachagua opined.
