Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s eldest son, Engineer Dan Totto, has confirmed he was involved in a road accident while traveling home from Nairobi.
In a statement shared on social media, Dan Totto said the accident occurred while he was driving and that all three occupants in his vehicle, as well as the driver of the other car, escaped with minor injuries.
He thanked friends and relatives for their prayers and well wishes, expressing gratitude that no one was seriously injured.
“To friends and relatives, I thank you so much for sending me the best of wishes and prayers. It’s true I was in an accident on my way home from Nairobi. Luckily, all the three occupants in the vehicle I was driving and the driver of the other car (he was alone) escaped with minor injuries. In all, we give thanks to the lord,” the statement read.
Earlier reports had claimed Dan Totto sustained serious injuries, but his statement clarified that everyone involved in the crash escaped with only minor injuries.
Messages of Support Pour In After Dan Totto Accident
Following his update, Dan Totto received an outpouring of support from friends, relatives and members of the public on social media.
Many wished him a quick recovery, while others expressed gratitude that he and the other occupants survived the accident with only minor injuries.
Several commenters also urged Totto and the other passengers to undergo medical evaluation as they recover from the crash.
“Quick recovery to you and the other passengers. I hope you all receive proper medical review,” said Geoffrey Odhiambo Ochieng.
Damaged SUV Taken to Police Station
Images circulating on social media show the luxury SUV involved in the crash with extensive rear-end damage, including crumpled body panels and a displaced rear wheel. The vehicle was reportedly taken to Sotik Police Station after the accident.

The SUV has been linked to former Migori Governor Okoth Obado, although Dan Totto did not comment on the vehicle in his statement.
The cause of the accident had not been officially established at the time of reporting, although social media users speculated about possible factors; police are expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash through their investigations.
Obado Remains in Custody Awaiting Sentencing
Former Migori Governor Zachary Okoth Obado is currently being held at Industrial Area Remand Prison in Nairobi after being convicted of the 2018 murder of Sharon Otieno and her unborn child.
On July 23, 2026, the High Court convicted Obado alongside his former personal assistant Michael Juma Oyamo and former Migori County clerk Caspal (Casper) Ojwang Obiero.

The court found that the prosecution had proved the case beyond reasonable doubt using circumstantial evidence, including DNA evidence, communication records, witness testimony and other exhibits.
Following the conviction, the court revoked the three men’s bond terms and ordered that they be remanded in custody pending sentencing. They were subsequently transferred to Industrial Area Remand Prison.
The court also directed the Probation Department to prepare pre-sentence reports and victim impact statements ahead of sentencing, which is scheduled for around August 18, 2026. Under Kenyan law, a murder conviction can attract life imprisonment, the death penalty, or another sentence permitted by law, depending on the court’s determination.
