Marjorie Taylor Greene called on President Donald Trump on Tuesday, June 2, to immediately end the war with Iran and pull U.S. troops out of harm’s way, as fresh Iranian attacks left American forces exposed across the Middle East.
In a post on X, the former Georgia congresswoman shared a message from Joe Kent, a former intelligence official and Trump ally, that portrayed a grim picture of the situation.
“Pray for our troops under fire in the Middle East,” Kent wrote. “We need to pull them out immediately before more are hurt or killed.”
Marjorie Taylor Greene Calls for Immediate End to Iran Conflict
Greene echoed Kent’s call and added, “Absolutely praying for our troops. President Trump must end this pointless war immediately.”
A delicate truce between the United States and Iran has held since early April after American and Israeli strikes targeted Iranian nuclear sites and military infrastructure earlier this year.
Iran responded by targeting U.S. military assets in the Middle East and launched direct missile and drone attacks against Israel.
The heavy exchange of strikes lasted for weeks before a ceasefire was brokered by Pakistan in April.
Renewed Attacks Prompt Worries About Military Exposure
Yet U.S. bases in Kuwait and other parts of the Middle East have come under renewed attack from Iranian-reported missiles and drones in the early hours of Wednesday, June 3.
American forces have responded with self-defense strikes, but officials admit the positions remain vulnerable.
Kent, who resigned from his role in the Trump administration in March over disagreements on Iran policy, described the bases and ships in the region as “strategic liabilities, not assets.”
Their presence, he argued, makes Iran an easy target for restarting the conflict on its own terms.
Several U.S. warships have been in the Middle East for weeks now, enforcing the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, aimed at forcing Iran to open the strait for commercial ships and tankers and prevent Tehran from advancing toward owning nukes.
Some Trump supporters want a hard line against Iran to prevent it from rebuilding its nuclear program or strengthening proxy militias.
Others, like Greene and Kent, say enough is enough after years of American blood and treasure spent in the Middle East.
Greene has long pushed an isolationist view on foreign conflicts. She backed Trump’s original “America First” approach during his first term and has warned against getting dragged into what she calls endless wars.
Her latest statement puts direct pressure on Trump, who campaigned on avoiding new Middle East quagmires but now receives criticism from both sides: those who think he has gone too far and those who believe he is right to face Iran directly and finish the job.
The situation on the ground remains dangerous as U.S. Central Command has reported multiple incidents in the past two weeks involving Iranian-backed attacks on American positions.

While no large-scale casualties have been confirmed in the latest strikes, military families and veterans groups have been voicing growing anxiety.
On social media, Greene’s supporters praised the call for withdrawal, arguing American lives should not be risked for what they see as someone else’s fight. They noted that U.S. troops in the Middle East are literally fighting for Israel.
Greene’s critics accused her of weakness and said leaving now would hand Iran a victory and cause further aggression against U.S. allies.
The Iran conflict worsened rapidly after Trump’s return to office. Initial U.S.-Israeli operations aimed to degrade Iran’s nuclear capabilities and weaken the regime.
While those strikes achieved some stated goals, they failed to fully eliminate Iran’s missile program or its influence over regional militias.
Tehran has shown a willingness to absorb losses and strike back at softer targets, including U.S. bases.
