The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has published the average lending and deposit interest rates for all commercial banks across the country for August 2026.
In data released on September 30, CBK stated that the overall average lending rate stood at 14.34 percent in August, down from 14.39 percent in July.
Citibank N.A. Kenya recorded the lowest average lending rate at 10.52 per cent, followed by Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited at 11.48 per cent and Stanbic Bank Kenya Limited at 11.93 per cent.
Habib Bank A.G. Zurich recorded an average lending rate of 12.68 per cent, while HFC Limited stood at 13.07 per cent.
Bank of Baroda Kenya Limited recorded 13.49 percent, followed by Guardian Bank Limited at 13.51 percent and I&M Bank Limited at 13.67 per cent.
ABSA Bank Kenya PLC recorded an average lending rate of 13.69 per cent, while Bank of India stood at 13.83 per cent.
Development Bank of Kenya Limited recorded 13.94 per cent, followed by Prime Bank Limited at 13.94 per cent and Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Limited at 13.97 per cent.
NCBA Bank Kenya PLC recorded an average lending rate of 14.00 per cent, and Consolidated Bank of Kenya Limited 14.00 per cent while Guaranty Trust Bank Kenya Limited recorded 14.01 per cent.
Gulf African Bank Limited recorded 14.20 per cent, Victoria Commercial Bank PLC 14.26 per cent, Paramount Bank Limited 14.38 per cent and Ecobank Kenya Limited 14.46 per cent.
CBK Lists Banks With Highest Loan Interest
Above the overall average, M-Orietal recorded 14.55 per cent, followed by KCB Bank Kenya Limited at 14.78 per cent and Commercial International Bank Kenya Limited at 14.78 per cent.
Equity Bank Kenya Limited recorded an average lending rate of 14.90 per cent, while Sidian and Co-operative Bank of Kenya Limited each recorded 15.01 per cent.
Middle East Bank Kenya Limited recorded 15.10 per cent, while African Banking Corporation Limited stood at 15.54 per cent and Premier bank at 15.63 per cent.
DIB Kenya Limited recorded 15.72 per cent, followed by UBA Kenya Bank Limited at 15.77 per cent and National Bank of Kenya Limited at 15.87 per cent.
Family Bank Limited recorded an average lending rate of 15.89 per cent, while SBM Bank Kenya Limited stood at 17.17 per cent.
Kingdom Bank Limited recorded 17.21 per cent, Access Bank Kenya PLC 17.32 per cent and Bank of Africa Kenya Limited 17.45 per cent.
Credit Bank PLC recorded the highest average lending rate in the list at 18.69 per cent.

August/September Lending Rates
The Central Bank of Kenya retained its benchmark interest rate at 8.75 per cent for August/September 2026, keeping it unchanged for a fourth consecutive monetary policy meeting as inflation remained within the bank’s target range.
According to the CBK, private-sector credit growth strengthened to 10.2 per cent in July, although this was slightly lower than the 10.6 per cent recorded in June.
The July growth marked a significant recovery from the 2.9 per cent contraction recorded in January 2025, as previous monetary policy easing continued to support credit growth and access to financing.
Meanwhile, headline inflation rose marginally to 6.5 per cent in July, up from 6.4 per cent in June, while core inflation stood at 3.2 per cent.
Non-core inflation eased slightly to 15.0 per cent from 15.1 per cent, with the CBK attributing the moderation partly to government measures, including fuel subsidies and a temporary reduction in VAT on fuel.
