A bus carrying players and officials of Nyamira-based National Super League (NSL) side Lowland Starlets FC has been involved in a road accident at Chebilat along the Chepilat–Chabera Highway.
The team was travelling to Luanda for a scheduled league fixture against Bunyore Starlets when the crash occurred, leaving several players and members of the technical bench injured.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and facilitated the evacuation of the injured to Kaplong Hospital in Bomet County, where those in critical condition are currently receiving treatment.

According to reports, the team bus was carrying 30 members heading to Vihiga County. 13 of the players have been seriously injured and are currently hospitalized at Kaplong Hospital.

A section of the squad suffered severe injuries and remains admitted to the hospital, while others sustained minor injuries and were treated before being discharged.
Players sustained serious injuries in the crash, including fractures to the head and other parts of the body.
Videos shared online, as seen by The Kenya Times, captured the overturned the bus they used earlier on Sunday morning.
According to reports, the 13 players admitted to Kaplong Hospital in Bomet County sustained serious injuries, including fractures to the head and other parts of the body.
The remaining 17 sustained minor injuries and were treated before being cleared to return to the team’s base in Nyamira.
Witness accounts indicate that the accident occurred at Chebilat. However, the exact cause is yet to be officially established, with authorities expected to launch investigations to determine the circumstances leading to the crash.
Members of the technical bench have also been reported injured, with the team manager among those affected, having suffered a dislocated arm in the crash.
The incident has disrupted the team’s preparations for their fixture against Bunyore Starlets, with uncertainty surrounding whether the match will proceed as scheduled.
Football Kenya Federation and Kenya National Super League are yet to comments on the incident.
