In 2024, Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, 33 — who police described as a “vampire” following his arrest on July 15 — escaped from custody alongside 12 undocumented Eritrean migrants.
Police discovered the escape early in the morning while waking up suspects in custody for tea. According to police, the suspects had cut through a wire mesh that formed part of the cell’s security barrier before scaling the perimeter wall to freedom.
DCI Director Mohamed Amin confirmed the incident, noting that a fresh manhunt had been launched for the suspect.

According to Amin, the murders were committed between 2022 and as recently as July 11, 2024, with all the victims killed, wrapped, and disposed of in a similar manner.
