The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced new fuel prices for the period between August 15 and September 14, 2026.
In the latest review announced on Friday August 14, EPRA said the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices for Diesel will decrease by KShs.5.00 per litre.
At the same time, the regulator said the price of Super Petrol and Kerosene remain unchanged due to additional Government Stabilization Support Measures of KSh 938 million.
Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will retail at Ksh. 214.03, Ksh. 217.86 and Ksh. 191.38 per litre, respectively, in Nairobi, effective midnight today.
EPRA Cuts Diesel Price by Ksh5, Keeps Petrol and Kerosene Prices Unchanged
The new prices will take effect from August 15, 2026, and remain in force until September 14, 2026.
“In accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No.192 of 2022, the Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has calculated the maximum retail prices of petroleum products which will be in force from 15th August 2026 to 14th September 2026,” EPRA said.
“In the period under review, the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices for Diesel decreases by KShs.5.00/litre while the price of Super Petrol and Kerosene remain unchanged due to additional Government Stabilization Support Measures of KShs.938 Million.”
EPRA said the prices are inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT), in line with the VAT Act, 2013, as read together with Legal Notice No. 70 dated April 15, 2026, the Finance Act, 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act, 2024, and revised excise duty rates adjusted for inflation.
The average landed cost of imported Super Petrol increased by 6.99% from US$836.92 per cubic metre in June 2026 to US$948.92 per cubic metre in July 2026.
Meanwhile, Diesel decreased by 13.08% from US$984.37 per cubic metre to US$855.59 per cubic metre while Kerosene decreased by 11.01% from US$1028.17 per cubic metre to US$915.01 per cubic metre over the same period.
July 15 to August 14 Fuel Prices
The new prices replace the rates that were in force between July 15 and August 14, 2026.
During the outgoing pricing cycle, Super Petrol in Nairobi retailed at KSh214.03 per litre, Diesel at KSh222.86, and Kerosene at KSh191.38.
The prices remained unchanged during the July-August review after government intervention to cushion consumers from volatility in international petroleum markets.

At the time, EPRA said the government had extended the 8 per cent VAT arrangement on petroleum products for a further three months and utilized KSh945 million from the Petroleum Development Levy Fund to maintain pump price stability.
“The situation in the Middle East remains uncertain, creating high price volatility and as a result, the Government has extended the eight per cent VAT on petroleum products for a further three months and utilized Sh945 million from the Petroleum Development Levy Fund to ensure pump price stability,” EPRA said.

Global Oil Prices
The latest fuel price review comes amid changes in international crude oil prices.
Murban crude oil prices declined to $72.54 per barrel on August 6 from $78.24 per barrel on July 30, according to the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).
The CBK attributed the decline to global market movements, even as inflation risks remained elevated in advanced economies during the week ending August 6, 2026.
Brent crude prices also fell sharply on Thursday, August 13, closing at about $87.07 per barrel after declining by more than 2 percent amid concerns over weaker global demand and a sharp increase in US crude inventories.
The decline came after Brent had climbed above $90 per barrel earlier in the week.
Changes in international crude oil prices, the cost of importing petroleum products, exchange rates, taxes and levies are among the factors that influence the final prices paid by consumers at the pump.
