Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino to join his DCP party.

Speaking during a press conference on November 3, 2025, at the DCP headquarters, the former DP wooed the two legislators, saying he would have no problem supporting them.

“Now we have heard William Ruto saying that if he takes over ODM, he will expel Sifuna. Edwin Sifuna, I want to tell you, my brother, you are a good leader. If William Ruto expels you, you are welcome in DCP. I have no problem with DCP supporting Sifuna.

William Ruto has also said that even Babu Owino would have to leave if he takes over ODM. Babu Owino, if Ruto expels you, this is your home,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua further stated that the DCP party is a party for Kenyan patriots, describing Sifuna as a great leader who has a place in his party.

He added that if both the Nairobi Senator and the Embakasi East MP are uncomfortable joining his DCP party, they are free to join the Wiper Democratic Movement, led by Kalonzo Musyoka, which is part of the united opposition.

At the same time, the former Deputy President urged ODM leaders to be cautious in their cooperation with President William Ruto, saying that if they are not careful, their initial political support base will disappear.

“But you people in ODM, if you continue aligning yourselves with William Ruto here in Nairobi, you will not get even a single seat because William Ruto’s votes here are only 24,000,” Gachagua stated.

The former Deputy President also addressed his recent remarks in which he said that he and Kalonzo Musyoka had agreed to share several positions in Nairobi.

He accused a section of the media of misquoting him by claiming that all seats in Nairobi would be given to people from the Mount Kenya region.

“So you newspapers, don’t twist it to say that Rigathi wants Nairobi seats reserved for Kikuyus only. Just be professional and fair, and remember you also have a responsibility to be truthful. Don’t twist narratives,” Gachagua stated.

Former DP Reveals Power Sharing Deal with Kalonzo

The former DP’s response towards the media comes after he claimed that the majority of political seats in Nairobi have been handed over to his DCP party by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a church service at P.C.E.A. Kariobangi North, Berea Parish Church in Nairobi on Sunday, November 29, the former DP revealed that they have reached an agreement with the Wiper leader.

“DCP is the party for Nairobi, and this is the foundation of our politics here in the city. We have agreed with the Wiper leader, who has been assisting ODM in Nairobi. We have agreed that the governor’s seat will be taken by DCP, the senator’s seat will be taken by DCP, and the women’s representative seat will also be taken by DCP,” Gachagua stated.

Besides DCP being allocated the Governor, Senator, and Woman Representative positions, Gachagua further revealed that out of the 17 Member of Parliament seats in Nairobi, he has agreed with Kalonzo that his DCP party will take 16 of them.

Additionally, the former Deputy President stated that out of the 85 wards in Nairobi, they have agreed that his party will be allocated 75 ward seats.
