The Jubilee Party National Executive Council has appointed former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as the party’s Deputy Leader and its presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on October 30, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni announced that the council had unanimously approved Dr. Fred Matiang’i’s application to contest the presidency under the party’s ticket.
“We have officially received and endorsed Dr. Fred Matiang’i’s presidential application, and the NEC has resolved that he will be our flagbearer,” Kioni stated.
“Dr. Fred Matiang’i will serve as our Deputy Party Leader moving forward.”

He noted that the NEC meeting also discussed key matters concerning the party’s organization and future strategy, stressing that it will work on strengthening its grassroots presence.
“We deliberated on critical issues of structure and strategy that will guide the party’s next phase. Our focus now shifts to revitalizing Jubilee by opening branches, reconnecting with our members, and attracting new ones,” Kioni said, adding that a series of activities would be unveiled in the coming weeks.
The meeting also saw the party make key leadership appointments to fill vacant positions, with Nakuru Town West Member of Parliament (MP) Samuel Arama was appointed as the National Assembly Whip, while Senator James Lomenen will take up the role of Senate Whip.
