The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the closure of the Nakuru – Eldoret Road at Nabkoi Junction.
In a statement, the authority noted that the closure will occur between Tuesday, 14th to Wednesday, 15th May 2024.
The authority further explained that the move would allow for emergency restoration works at the said section of the Road.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority regrets to inform the public that there will be traffic interruption at Nabkoi Junction along the Nakuru – Eldoret (A8) Road. This disruption will be from Tuesday, 14th to Wednesday, 15th May 2024,” stated KeNHA.
Further, the authority advised motorists to maintain traffic rules to avoid overlapping and causing traffic snarl ups. Also, the statement indicated that a diversion had been provided and signage installed to guide traffic.
“Motorists are advised to refrain from overlapping to avoid traffic snarl ups. A diversion has been provided and signage installed to guide traffic. Additionally, traffic police assisted by traffic marshals are on site for further directions.
“The Authority remains committed to ensure seamless connectivity to facilitate safe passage of goods and services for economic prosperity. Your safety remains our utmost priority,” stated KeNHA.

KeNHA Warns of Falling Rocks
Earlier, KeNHA warned members of the public of potential danger of falling rock debris along the Machakos-Kangundo Road. The advisory comes in the wake of recent heavy downpours in the area.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority informs the public to be cautious of falling rock debris along Machakos – Kangundo (B105) Road at Kaloleni. This follows the recent heavy downpours experienced in the area,
“We advise motorists to be vigilant while driving along this affected section of the road even as we remain on the lookout and clear the debris,” the notice read in part.
Roads affected by Heavy Rainfall
In a statement on May 5, KeNHA announced the opening of the Nakuru-Eldoret(A8) highway at Timboroa market after it was closed down because of distractions caused by heavy rainfall.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority is pleased to inform the public the Nakuru – Eldoret (A8) Highway is now open to traffic. This follows completion of remedial works at Timboroa,” KeNHA said in a statement.
On the other hand, the authority in a series of cautionary notices alerted motorists and pedestrians of potential hazards on several key roads due to flooding and rising water levels.
Also, KeNHA strongly advised against attempting to cross this section of the road and urged users to wait patiently for the water levels to recede.
“The Authority cautions road users against any attempts to use this section of the road in the interest of their safety,” KeNHA announced.
However, since the onset of a sunny weather, repairs have begun on some of the affected roads.
