Kenya Airways on Thursday, January 16, 2025, announced the resumption of its Dreamliner (Boeing 787-800) operations from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to Heathrow Airport in London.
In a statement, the airline confirmed it would deploy its flagship aircraft for flights to Heathrow.
“Starting today, 16th January 2025, we will resume operations on all London Heathrow flights using our flagship aircraft, the Dreamliner B787-800. Experience world-class comfort, convenience, and exceptional hospitality with Africa’s leading carrier,” the statement read.

According to the national carrier, the reinstatement of its flagship Dreamliner aircraft comes after heavy maintenance on the B787 fleet.
KQ had leased an Airbus A330 to operate flights to London during the maintenance period.

KQ unmasks individual masquerading as one of their pilot
At the same time, the airline exposed an individual impersonating a Kenya Airways pilot. The individual had been distributing business cards and falsely claiming to be a Kenya Airways employee.
“Please be aware of a fake captain by the name James Mwangi, who has been issuing business cards and falsely claiming to be a Kenya Airways employee.
This individual is not associated with us. For accurate information about Kenya Airways and our employees, always rely on our official channels and website,” the statement concluded.
Kenya Airways further urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to their team via call or WhatsApp at +254741111485.

KQ’s resumption of flights to Heathrow comes days after it had announced the resumption of flights to Dzaoudzi (DZA) in Mayotte on January 2 2025, marking a significant milestone in strengthening connectivity within the Indian Ocean region.
According to a statement from the international airline dated December 31, the move was expected to enhance trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges between Kenya and the French overseas territory.
