Four people including two Kenyan politicians have died in a tragic road accident in Tapaach, Uganda.
The four were on a 10-day development tour when their vehicle was involved in the fatal crash.

Further, County Commissioner Khaliff Abdullahi has confirmed that the two Kenyan politicians were from West Pokot County.
The politicians were traveling in a county government vehicle along the Moroto-Nasal road in Uganda.

Moreover, preliminary reports have indicated that the leader of majority Martin Komong’iro who came out of the accident with minor injuries.
The identities of the deceased politicians have not yet been officially released, as authorities are working to notify their families.

Kenyan Politicians Mourn
Nandi MCA Julius Keter has mourned the politicians, saying that they were MCAs of West Pokot County.
“It is with deep sorrow that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the entire leadership and the great people of West Pokot County following the tragic loss of two esteemed legislators in the unfortunate accident at Tapaach along Moroto-Nasal Road in Uganda,” stated Keter.
Additionally, he eulogized them as leaders with integrity and commitment saying that they will be forever remembered.
“During this moment of grief, we stand in solidarity with you, sharing in the pain and sorrow of losing dedicated leaders who served their people with commitment and integrity.
“Their contributions to the county and the lives they touched will forever be remembered. May their souls rest in eternal peace,” he added.

NTSA Statistics on Accident
Earlier on March 21, several people lost their lives in a tragic road accident involving a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) matatu in Ruaka, Kiambu County.
According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred near Two Rivers Mall.
The matatu, operating under KIWALIRU SACCO, was reportedly speeding when the driver lost control. The vehicle, which was headed towards Kiambu Road, veered off the road and plunged into a ditch, resulting in the fatal crash.
Images from the scene showed a completely wrecked matatu with displaced seats and a shattered windscreen.
Recent data from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) highlights a rise in road fatalities, with speeding, reckless driving, and poorly maintained vehicles cited as major contributors.
A September 2024 report revealed that between January 1 and August 27, 2024, at least 3,056 people lost their lives in road accidents.
Pedestrians remain the most affected, with fatalities increasing by 15 percent to 1,177, up from 1,044 during the same period in 2023. Similarly, passenger deaths saw a 15 percent rise, reaching 595 compared to 519 the previous year. The report also indicates that 262 drivers lost their lives in road crashes.
