What is Happening in Lebanon
On Tuesday, July 30, an Israeli airstrike hit a densely-populated area of the capital of Lebanon, Beirut.
The strike killed at least three people including two children and injured 74 others when it hit a block of flats in Haret Hreik, a densely populated suburb in Beirut known as a stronghold for Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed militant group.
Australia, UK and America are among countries warning citizens to cancel their travel to Lebanon because of the risk of the security situation deteriorating further.
“Some airlines in Lebanon have postponed or cancelled some flights. Further flight cancellations and disruptions could occur with little or no notice,” Australia stated in its advisory.
