Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala has revealed that his son was abducted by unknown individuals.
In a statement, the politician stated that his son was abducted while in the company of his 19-year-old brother-in-law.
Additionally, Malala stated that the two were tortured for 6 hours while being interrogated about the whereabouts of his family.
“My son and my 19-year-old brother-in-law were abducted at gunpoint. Tortured for 6 hours to disclose my whereabouts or that of my wife and to show them the way to my residence,” stated Malala.
However, he has said that the two abducted family members led the unknown individuals to their home, but they could not find them.
Consequently, they were dumped along Thika Road.
“On failing to find us at home they dumped them on Thika Road; I have picked them up, safe but traumatized.”

Recent Abductions in the Country
This case adds to the recent reports of abductions and torture in the country, including that of human rights activist and chairperson of the Free Kenya Movement Bob Njagi.
Njagi was reportedly abducted while in the company of two brothers, Jamil Longton and Aslam Longton on August 19.
Moreover, their family said that they were reportedly taken by individuals in suits who claimed to be police officers from Nairobi but provided no reason for the arrests.
However, on September 20, Njagi was released hours after Inspector General of Police (IG) Douglas Kanja and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohammed Amin denied abducting him and the Kitengela brothers.
Another reported victim of abductions is Veteran journalist Macharia Gaitho, who was forcefully arrested by police officers at Karen police station.
Also, blogger and businessman Kevin Too was abducted by DCI in Kahawa West area in Nairobi, David Machiri, the son of former Kamachiria ward representative Joseph Machiri, who was abducted by people believed to be security officers among many other Kenyans.

Ruto on Abductions
President William Ruto has maintained that he is not aware of any Kenyan who was reportedly abducted by the country’s security agencies during or after the June and July anti-tax protests across the nation.
Speaking during a town hall session in Kisumu on Thursday, August 29 evening, Ruto urged citizens whose kin or friends have reportedly gone missing under mysterious circumstances during protests, to come forward with their names for action.
“If there is a family that their child or friend or relative went to a demonstration, whether it is last year or this year, and never came back, I want to know the names because I will take firm and decisive action,” he said.
