Two other persons are being held by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in connection to the killings of women whose bodies were found dumped at a quarry-turned-dumpsite at Kware in Mukuru Slums, Nairobi.
DCI in a statement on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, said that the two suspects are being held to assist in the investigations, adding that one of the suspects was found in possession of a victim’s phone.
According to the DCI, one of the suspects being held by the investigators is said to have sold the victim’s phone to the second suspect, which in turn led to the arrest of both.
“Meanwhile, two other persons of interest being held by investigators to assist in the ongoing investigation include one Amos Momanyi Mogusu who was found with the mobile phone belonging to the slain Roselyn Akoth, and Moses Ogembo who sold the handset to Momanyi,” read part of the statement.
The Directorate said that upon arrest of Amos Momanyi Mogusu at City Cabanas and recovery of the mobile phone yesterday, he led detectives to the second suspect Ogembo’s house.
DCI Provides Update on Kware Dumpsite Bodies
Further, DCI said that in his house located at Mukuru kwa Reuben, Ogembo was found in possession of a total number of 154 used mobile phones stashed in his house.

The detectives said that Moses Ogembo has admitted to previously having bought used phones from the prime suspect in the suspected serial murders, Collins Jumaisi Khalusha.
At the same time, the Directorate has revealed that the body of a victim of the prime suspect’s killings namely Roselyn Akoth Ogongo was yesterday identified by her family.
The family identified her body at the Nairobi Funeral Home (City Mortuary), who also witnessed the autopsy process conducted at the same facility.
“The family has also visited Homicide offices today to record their statement, further identifying their kin’s handbag which was among the recoveries made yesterday morning at the suspect’s house,” added DCI.
Prime Suspect Wife’s Family Identifies ID
According to DCI, a sister to the deceased in her statement noted that the last time she ever saw her slain sister, she stepped out of the house with the handbag.

Equally, the family of the alleged wife and first victim of Jumaisi’s killings Imelda Judith Karenya have also identified her identity card, which was also among the 9 IDs found at the suspect’s house.

We extend our gratitude to the families and friends of the deceased, and the public for continuously sharing valuable information with our investigative team, enabling significant progress in this inquiry,” notes the Directorate.
Meanwhile, the prime suspect in the Mukuru kwa Njenga murders probe Collins Jumaisi Khalusha was on Tuesday arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts.
The court’s magistrate granted the investigators 30 days custodial orders to complete their investigations.
