Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has announced that he will give his supporters the next step after losing the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairmanship election.
Speaking on February 24, Raila said he is still available to serve Africa and Kenya in other capacities.

“We are available to help the continent of Africa but more importantly, we are also available for Kenya,” Raila said.
Raila said he will hold discussions with his political friends and supporters and give the way forward in regard to local politics.

“Back home here I am going to meet with my friends and supporters. I am going to consult widely about what is going on and in due course, we are going to announce our way forward,” he said.
“Watch this pace, I will be talking again.”

Raila Grateful for Kenya’s Support

Additionally, Raila said he is not bitter with his competitors, including the eventual winner, Djibouti’s Foreign Minister Mahamoud Ali Youssouf.
“I want to thank those who voted against us; they were exercising their democratic right. We are not bitter at all. I also congratulated my competitors,” he said.

Calls for Unity
President Ruto made similar remarks, stating that Africa remains a united continent with Agenda 2063, to which Kenya will continue to contribute robustly.
Ruto asked leaders to close ranks and focus on what they can do for Kenya especially those that require a collective effort.
“As an administration that is now broad-based, there is every reason for us to accelerate the momentum for the delivery of the things that will transform our nation,” he said.
“I must be grateful that the necessary political capital that is required to move transformative programs in our country now exists courtesy of the broad-based government and we will continue to focus on developing the programs and police that will catapult our country to the next level.”

Ruto Talks of Political Consultations
President said Raila represented Kenya well describing him as a fantastic who needed exactly what was required of him.
He stated that he will Raila in issues related to nation building and development agendas of the government.
“It is a proud moment for us to receive you (Raila) back home and engage with you and we drive the development of Kenya, engage in nation building and broaden our engagement as Kenyans towards achieving that which will bring equity, prosperity and transformation,” Ruto said.
Ruto finished by stating, “There will be extensive consultations across the political divide as we work towards the unity of our country and the progress of Kenya.”
