People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua has stated a condition for collaborating with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga ahead of the 2027 elections.
During an interview on Radio Maisha on the morning of Monday, February 24, Karua stated that she is open to working with Odinga again but only if he makes a clear decision regarding whether to align with her or with President William Ruto.

“Mimi sitamwelezea chochote, nitamwambia ni soko huru, lakini ukichagua kuwa na Ruto, do the right thing. Fanya post-election coalition agreement ndivyo tujue uko ndani kabisa, lakini mambo ya mguu moja ndani, mguu moja nje, hiyo ni haramu kwa Wakenya. Hiyo tu ndiyo naweza sema. Options ni zake, achague yeye mwenyewe.”
“I won’t dictate anything to him; I’ll just tell him it’s a free market. But if he chooses to work with Ruto, he should formalize it with a post-election coalition agreement, so we know his stance. This issue of having one foot in and one foot out is unfair to Kenyans. That’s all I can say. The options are his to choose,” Karua explained.

Karua further stated that every Kenyan is welcome to form a political alliance with her, including the former Prime Minister, even though they currently differ politically.
“Every Kenyan is welcome. He is still our brother, even though we have parted ways politically. He is still a brother and a friend—that’s the most important thing.”

Karua’s remarks toward Raila Odinga come at a time when several politicians, led by President William Ruto, are vying for his political allegiance after the African Union Commission (AUC) election loss.
