Opposition leader Raila Odinga has publicly mocked former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua after his recent impeachment.
During a political event in Vihiga on Sunday, December 1, Raila mocked Gachagua, referencing a previous statement he made about setting traps at State House.
According to Odinga, the former DP promised to make sure that the opposition leader does not get unrestricted access to President William Ruto.
However, Odinga has bragged that the traps ended up playing to his disadvantage.
“Nimeona juzi mtu mwengine anabweka kule ati tumeweka mitego kila mahali, huwezi kupenya. Mtego ya aina gani? Aliweka mtego kule State House, ati aliwekea baba mtego, eti hakuna mambo ya handshake, ya nusu mkate. Akowapi sasa Gachagua?”
“Translating to (I saw recently someone saying that they had set traps everywhere. What kind of traps are those?
“He put the traps at State House for Baba, he said that there would not be a handshake or a coalition. Where is he now? Where is Gachagua now?), ” said Raila.

Gachagua on Setting Traps for Raila
While giving a past public address, Gachagua said that he had set traps to keep out the opposition leader from the State House.
He publicly stood firm against a coalition or having Raila build a relationship with Ruto.

However, he later said that he decided to remove the traps after realizing that his boss appeared to be reuniting with Raila.
“My boss and I had agreed we set up traps so that Raila does not join the government through the backdoor, I would check the traps every morning and evening,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua Opens Up About Fallout with Ruto
While speaking on Sunday, November 24, Gachagua revealed that he fell out with the head of state because he opposed the Adani Deal against the wishes of the president.
According to him, he warned Ruto against the Adani Group- JKIA deal, but the head of state accused him of failing to support government initiatives.
“I speak for the people. The issue of the Adani deal among others was the reason the president and I fell out.
“I told Ruto that the Adani deal was shady and it was auctioning the country. I told him that the people did not want it and he hated me,” he said.
