Several people are trapped after a traffic road accident along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway on the morning of Saturday, September 14, 2024.
According to the Kenya Red Cross, the accident involving a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) happened at the Twin Bridge which located along the road.
The humanitarian agency announced that rescue emergency teams are already at the scene of the accident to rescue the passengers.
“A road traffic incident involving a 14-seater PSV, and a lorry has occurred at Twin Bridge on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway. There are trapped casualties and response teams are on-site,” Kenya Red Cross said.
Several people have been killed, and others left nursing injuries due to accidents at the Twin Bridge blackspot since the beginning of the year.
Simba Coach Bus Accident
The recent accident occurred barely a month after one person died while 44 others were injured following a crash at the same location.
The latest crash happened on August 24, involving a Simba Coach Bus near the Sachangwan area, just a few kilometers from Salgaa Molo.
The bus veered off the busy highway, rolled over, and overturned into a ditch while attempting to avoid a collision with two lorries.
Kenya Red Cross officers managed to rescue the driver and several passengers, all with serious injuries.

28 People Killed at Twin Bridge
The August 24 accident came shortly after another incident at the same location, where 13 people died, and 55 others were injured.
On the morning of August 20, a PSV bus was involved in a multi-vehicle accident, leading to the deaths of five women, seven men, and one infant.
The death toll rose as more victims were retrieved from the wreckage of the vehicles involved in the crash.
It was reported that the bus, which was headed towards Nakuru from Kericho, lost its brakes while navigating a steep stretch.
Additionally, 15 people died, and over 30 others were injured after a bus and a shuttle collided at Twin Bridge in January 2024.

NTSA Report
A report by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) revealed that 2,407 people died in road accidents between January and July 7, 2024.
Furthermore, 6,083 people were seriously injured while 4,083 sustained minor injuries during the same period.
The fatalities included 919 pedestrians, 210 drivers, 478 passengers, 199 pillion passengers, 46 pedal cyclists, and 555 motorcyclists.
NTSA also reported 389 deaths in January, 374 in February, 403 in March, 388 in April, 341 in May, and 411 in June.
Additionally, a total of 101 road fatalities were recorded between July 1 and July 7, 2024.
