A huge fire has razed down a business along Thika Road causing a traffic snarl up along the service lane at Roysambu’s Car Wash area.
Motorists plying the route have been advised to use alternative routes.
Videos and images shared online showed the fire burning down a business establishment by the side of the road.
Additionally, affected traders rushing to the establishment to try and salvage property while much of the building was already up in flames.
At the time of publication of this article, there were no first responders, or police officers at the scene.
However, the Kenya Red Cross Nairobi Branch confirmed that it had received information on the fire and a response team was en route to the scene.
The business has since been identified as Bed Palace. A well-known furniture store along the highway.
“A fire incident has been reported at Bed Palace along Thika Road. Response teams en route to the scene,” stated Nairobi Red Cross.

Bed Palace Previous Fire Incidents and Traffic Snurl Ups
This is the second time a fire has broken out at the establishment in 2024. The earlier incident occurred three months prior, destroying property of unknown value.
At the same time, in December 2023, a fire razed down the business destroying property worth millions.
While some residents have cited foul play, the property management is yet to disclose the cause of the fires.
On the other hand, others fear that the establishment could be facing serious structural or electrical challenges that may be contributing to these disasters.

Supermarket Burnt Down
In a separate incident on August 26, property worth millions of shillings were reduced to ashes after a fire engulfed a supermarket in Ruiru town, Kiambu County.
Residents reported that the generator had been making unusual noises and emitting smoke before suddenly exploding, igniting the fire that quickly spread through the building.
“The generator was running, then it began making funny sounds, and suddenly smoke started coming out before the fire sparked,” recounted one resident.
The fire rapidly consumed goods valued at millions of shillings, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
