Uasin Gishu County Deputy Governor John Barorot has stepped down from his position.
He announced his resignation during a meeting with senior county officials at the Eka Hotel in Eldoret, where Governor Jonathan Bii was also present.
This development comes just a week after Barorot denied rumors that he had resigned.
Governor Bii confirmed that his deputy has resigned and is heading to an international organization in the ICT sector as CEO.
“Today we announce the exit of our deputy governor Engineer John Barorot who has secured a position as a Chief Executive Officer of an international organization in the ICT sector. His last day of work will be August 31, 2024,” Governor Bii said.
Speculations about his resignation started after he missed President William Ruto’s event on Thursday, August 16, where Eldoret was granted City status.
John Barorot Deines Resignation Claims
Speaking to The Star on August 16, Barorot denied claims that he had resigned from office after his absence at the President’s event raised speculation about his whereabouts.
He said the reports were just rumors but did not explain why he missed the important event in the new city.
Reports indicate that the DG has been missing most of the county events spearheaded by Governor Bii since the beginning of 2024.
Additionally, there have been reports over his working relationship with his boss.
However, during a recent prayer meeting at the county headquarters, Governor Bii stated that Barorot was on leave.
“Sorry I forgot to tell you that our Deputy Governor engineer Barorot is not with us here because he is on leave, but we are together in all this,” Bii is quoted by The Star.
