A report by Brand Africa has revealed that telco giant Safaricom is the most admired brand in Kenya.
Safaricom and M-Pesa not only topped the telecommunications list but also the overall list of Kenyan firms.
Additionally, the service provider topped in the category of brands contributing positively to the society, people, and the environment.
The survey conducted by Brand Africa, in partnership with Gina Din Group, revealed that while 56 per cent of Kenyans believe in Africa, only 26 per cent of their most admired brands are made in Africa – with Kenya accounting for 23 per cent of the Top 100 brands.
For instance, in the list of the top 100 most admired brands in Kenya, European brands account for 30 per cent while African brands make up 26 per cent.
At the same time, North American brands represent 22 percent, Asian brands are at 20 percent, while brands from the Oceania region account for 2 per cent.
Coca Cola was ranked number one non-African brand in Kenya while Equity Bank was the top financial services provider followed by Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and Cooperative Bank.
Furthermore, Safaricom/M-Pesa, Coca-Cola and UNICEF were all recognized for their contributions to society, the environment, and people in Kenya.

UNICEF Kenya was awarded the most admired Non-Governmental Organization NGO/United Nation (UN).
Other Rankings by Brand Africa
Furthermore, Tusker was ranked as the leading Kenyan alcoholic brand, with Ketepa Tea leading as the top consumer non-cyclical brand in Kenya.
Softcare is the top personal care brand, while Denri and Ramtons were ranked as the leading apparel and electronic/computer brands.
In the retail segment, Naivas leads, followed by Kilimall and Sarit. Kenyans featured in the survey also showed their love for Toyota cars, followed by Honda and Mercedes-Benz.
Popular tech platforms in the country include Google, Microsoft, and Jumia.
According to the report, Samsung is the leading brand in the electronics/computers category, Nike in sports and fitness, Toyota in auto manufacturing, Gucci in luxury.
Blue Band in consumer non-cyclical products outside Kenya, Google in technology, Nivea in personal care, and DSTV in media.
Absa Bank Kenya was awarded as the Best Financial Global Brand operating in Kenya.

Gina Din Group Speaks on Kenyan Brand, Safaricom
Brand Africa chairman and founder Thebe Ikalafeng said Kenya is one of the continent’s leading nation brands.
In a new category to determine the most admired country contributing to a better Africa, Kenyans ranked Kenya as the number one country. South Africa, the USA, Rwanda, and Tanzania rounded out the Top 5.
“The results of the rankings demonstrate the diversity and complexity of the Kenyan market – and the strength of the local brands which drive its economy and identity,” he said.
