Unaitas Sacco is a deposit-taking Sacco licensed by the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA).
Established in 1993 as a co-operative society under the Cooperatives Act, it has steadily grown through visionary leadership to become one of the largest Saccos in Africa in terms of membership.
Unaitas was the first Sacco to automate its operations and open its common bond.
The journey began in 1993 when it was registered as Murang’a Tea Growers Sacco, founded by a pioneering group of farmers who pooled resources to save and access affordable credit.
In 2007, with its operations expanding beyond Murang’a, the Sacco rebranded to Muramati Sacco, opening its doors to tea growers, medium-sized entrepreneurs, and salaried employees.
To reflect its broader vision, it adopted the name Unaitas in 2012, embracing a strong and inclusive identity designed to serve members from all walks of life.
Today, Unaitas has evolved into a financial powerhouse, boasting an asset base exceeding Ksh 22.7 billion.
