The Office of the Attorney General has shortlisted candidates for 22 positions after applications submitted on May 6, 2025.
In a notice dated Tuesday, November 11, the authority urged applicants to check if their names appear on the shortlist.
“The Office of the Attorney General and the Department of Justice (OAG & DOJ) invited interested and qualified individuals to apply for various vacant positions advertised in print media and on the OAG & DOJ website on May 6, 2025. At the close of the advertisement on May 16, 2025, applications were received as detailed below,” stated the notice.
Office of the Attorney General Announces Shortlisted Candidates
According to the Office of the Attorney General, 3,617 applications were received for the position of Accountant, which had 10 available posts, and 91 candidates were shortlisted.
For the Public Communication Officer II position, two posts were advertised, with 666 applications submitted, resulting in 19 shortlisted candidates. Additionally, the position of Clerical Officer II had 10 posts available, receiving 5,890 applications, and 113 candidates were shortlisted.
The duties and responsibilities of the Accountant II position include performing various accounting tasks of limited scope under the guidance of a senior officer.
Specifically, the work involves the preparation and verification of vouchers in accordance with established rules and regulations, including primary data entry and routine accounting tasks such as balancing cashbooks and managing imprest and advance ledgers.

To qualify for the Accountant II position (CSG ‘11’), a candidate must meet the following requirements:
– A pass in Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or its recognized equivalent, OR a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option) or Business Administration (Accounting option) from a recognized institution, or any other relevant equivalent qualification.
The duties and responsibilities of the Public Communication Officer will include:
– Assisting in building corporate relations.
– Developing content on relevant issues for institutional websites and Information Education Communication (IEC) materials, as well as undertaking media monitoring.
– Assisting in the preparation of media reviews, briefs, press releases/statements, and supplements.
– Maintaining public relations records and documents.
– Participating in event organization.
To qualify for the Public Communication Officer II position (CSG ‘11’), a candidate must possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Mass Communications, Public Relations, Communication Studies, or Media Studies/Science from a recognized institution; OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science with a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communications, Public Relations, Communication Studies, or Media Studies/Science from a recognized institution.
- A certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Interviews to Be Conducted from November 25 to December 4, 2025
For the Clerical Officer II position, the duties and responsibilities include performing simple clerical tasks under the supervision and guidance of a senior officer. To qualify for the Clerical Officer II position (CSG ‘14’), a candidate must possess:
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade of C- (Minus) or its equivalent.
- A certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.

The Office of the Attorney General announced that interviews for the shortlisted candidates will be conducted from November 25, 2025, to December 4, 2025. Candidates are advised to visit the OAG & DOJ website at www.statelaw.go.ke for details regarding:
- The shortlisted candidates for various posts.
- The interview schedules, including venue, time, and date.
- The documents candidates should bring to the interviews.
