The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a temporary traffic disruption along Ngong Road near the Junction Mall area.
In a notice issued on Monday, November 10, KURA announced that it will close one lane along Ngong Road near the Junction Mall area tonight, Monday, November 10, 2025, for nine hours.
The Authority informed motorists that the closure will run from 8 p.m. on Monday until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11.
According to KURA, the lane closure is necessary to facilitate the maneuvering of heavy machinery ahead of the major erection of steel structures.
“KURA informs the public of a one-lane closure along Ngong Road around Junction Mall area tonight, Monday 10th November 2025 (8:00 p.m.–5:00 a.m.) for a demo of heavy machinery maneuver ahead of major erection of steel structures. Motorists are advised to exercise caution,” the authotity said.

Earlier Notice on Closure
The notice follows an earlier one where KURA announced a 20-day disruption on the same road, from Tuesday, November 18, 2025, to Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
The works will take place daily between 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM, except on Sundays.
In a statement shared on November 6, KURA said the disruption will facilitate the installation of a steel structure for the ongoing flyover construction.
During this period, traffic will be diverted between the Nairobi City County Training School and the Kenya Science Campus to allow for two-way movement within the affected section.
Motorists are urged to drive carefully, follow all traffic signs, and heed directions from police officers and traffic marshals on site, while expecting some delays as the works progress.
Traffic from both directions—to Karen and to town—will be diverted within the same section to maintain two-way movement at night.

Construction of Ngong Road Flyover
The Ngong Road Flyover Project is part of the KURA’s broader plan to improve traffic flow and enhance urban mobility in Nairobi.
The project involves the construction of a steel flyover near The Junction Mall, designed to alleviate congestion along the busy Ngong Road corridor, which connects the city center to residential areas such as Dagoretti, Karen, and Ngong.
This crucial infrastructure project is set to alleviate the long-standing traffic congestion that has plagued the area, bringing significant improvements to Nairobi’s urban transport system.
Funded by a concessional loan of Ksh 3.58 billion (EUR 25.3 million) from the Spanish Corporate International Fund (FIEM), the project is expected to be completed by July 2027.
This initiative aligns with the Kenyan Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure, which is crucial for stimulating long-term economic growth and improving mobility within urban areas.
Once completed, the flyover will bring numerous benefits to Nairobi’s residents. Most notably, it will dramatically reduce traffic congestion, especially at key intersections, saving time for motorists, public transport passengers, and pedestrians.
Safety will be prioritized through the addition of Non-Motorized Transport (NMT) facilities, ensuring safe passage for cyclists and pedestrians. The project also includes modern street lighting to boost visibility and upgraded drainage systems to mitigate the risk of flooding during rainy seasons.
