Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced that he will vie for presidency in the 2027 national elections.
Speaking during a Church Service, Full Gospel Church Magomano, Juja on Sunday, May 11, the former DP said that if his party appoints him to represent them, he will take the challenge.
Further, he said that if he runs against President William Ruto, the head of state will not stand a chance against him.
“I want to assure you, the people of Juja, the next election will be fine. I am there, Kalonzo is there, Martha Karua is there, Eugene Wamalwa, Fred Matiang’i, we are all there.
“We will all sit down and select one person. If I am the one who will be chosen, I will give Ruto a run for his money,” said Gachagua.

At the same time, Gachagua said that if his fellow party officials do not select him to run against Ruto, he will accept defeat and support the chosen candidate.
“If I am not selected, I will still support the one person we will choose. I know they are praying that we go against each other, but I want you to pray that we stick together. We have a job to do and we have to restore and liberate this country,” he added.

Additionally, he announced that he will be officially launching his political party to counter any plans the government has.
“This coming week, I will be launching our political party and we will hold a huge party to mark the day. We know that President Ruto plans on working with some small parties with blue, yellow and green wheelbarrows.
“He will try and have someone from the Mount Kenya region to vie for presidency to try and divide us, but we will not allow it.
