A family in Meru County is seeking justice after a bishop’s wife allegedly assaulted and severely injured a 17-year-old boy.
The woman suspected that the teenager was having an affair with her 15-year-old daughter.
According to the victim, he was attacked by the family while escorting the girl back home after she had visited him requesting for a sleepover.
In a video seen by The Kenya Times, the boy was still nursing injuries from the attack that took place on the night of March 9, 2024.
“I was going to explain to her mother where the child is coming from and how she came to my place and refused going back home when I declined her request to spend the night at my place. Unfortunately, the mother came with a stick and hit me on the head,” the boy narrated.
Despite the heavy punishment meted, the boy explained that the bishop’s wife went further to tying a rope on his neck.
“When I turned back to escape, I felt a green rope tied on my neck,” he recalled.

He further narrates of losing conscious and later waking up only to find himself tied to a tree while his trouser had been pulled down.

Due to the excruciating pain that he endured; the teenager screamed before locals came to his rescue.
His family together with other residents condemned the incident asking the police to take action.
“I am pleading for my son’s justice. The government should take action. That woman should be taken to court,” the victim’s mother demanded.
Other residents threatened to take action if the police ignored their plea.
” She should be arrested and taken to court, or we take the law on our hands,” one resident lamented.

However, this is not an isolated case. A 15-year-old boy from Kakamega County was allegedly beaten to death by Nyumba Kumi members for being in a relationship with his classmate just a week ago.
According to the deceased father’s account, he had sent his son to buy supper but later received a call that members of the Nyumba Kumi unit had detained him.

“After going to the scene, I found the chairman with a rod in his hands and he was tightly holding my son’s neck,” he said.
“I didn’t know that my son was in critical condition,”
He succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at Kakamega County Referral Hospital.
