Gladys Wanga was among the 45 governors-elect who took the oath of office on Thursday, August 25.
Wanga is taking over the county leadership from the outgoing governor Cyprian Awiti.
Moreover, the swearing-in ceremony took place at Homa Bay Stadium.
She won the HomaBay gubernatorial seat after garnering 244,559 votes, defeating her major political rival Evans Kidero, who came in second with 154,182 votes.
Likewise, all 45 Governors-Elect took oath of office, ten days since their election on August 9, 2022.
Wanga has served the county as the Woman Representative over the last ten years.
Nonetheless, gubernatorial polls in Kakamega and Mombasa counties were postponed to Monday, August 29 over a ballot papers mix-up.

In addition, the swearing-in ceremonies were held between 10 am and 2 pm. The second-term governors like Kisumu’s Ayang Nyongo and Nyeri’s Mutahi Wahiga also expressed confidence in improving service delivery.
Moreover, Kwale’s Fatuma Achani was also sworn in, becoming the first female coastal Governor. She will be taking over from Salim Mvurya.
Azimio La Umoja – One Kenya running mate Martha Karua on the other hand witnessed the swearing in of Gladys Wanga as Homa Bay Governor.

Karua had earlier on during her campaign rallies drummed up support for Wanga saying she had the ability to transform HomaBay county.
According to Karua, having Wanga as HomaBay governor woul strengthen women empowerment efforts.
Nevertheless, Mombasa and Kakamega counties did not have the swearing-in ceremonies because they are yet to elect their governors.
