President William Ruto during his official visit to Kuria East constituency on Saturday, March 25 asked the community to desist from practicing Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and embrace girl-child education.
Moreover, President Ruto directed the Kuria community to stop the vice immediately and work with the government to develop the region.
“Let us stop that thing (FGM). I hear that men here are still insisting on cutting their girls. No. I have refused. I want our girls to go to school and prosper. Why are the men here silent? FGM must stop,” said the President.
The head of state also reported that cases of FGM in the region have reduced. He also urged the residents and the leadership of the community to focus on completely eradicating it.
