Siaya County Governor James Orengo has sent County Secretary Joseph Ogutu and all county Chief Officers on mandatory leave.
Governor Orengo intends to give the taskforce responsible for conducting a forensic audit of the county’s financial operations enough time to complete its work.
Moreover, Orengo has made changes to the County’s Finance department, naming Mr. Richard Mungla as the new CEC for Finance.
The Siaya governor asked the county residents to provide the taskforce with the resources it needs to perform its duty effectively.
Furthermore, he urged the EACC and the DCI, which are currently investigating gross financial irregularities in the county, to speed up their investigations so that appropriate action can be taken against those implicated in corruption.
He further warned that those implicated will not go scot-free.
The seven-member taskforce was formed to carry out a forensic audit of the financial operations of the county government’s previous administration.
