An autopsy on the body of Victoria Mumbua Muloki, a taxi driver from Mombasa who was murdered, shows that she was hit several times on the head with a blunt object before being strangled to death.
Government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor who conducted the autopsy on her body made the revelation on Wednesday, noting that further findings indicate that Victoria did not go down without a fight as there were signs of struggle.
The mother of three, who was reported missing since September 27, 2024, was found murdered two days later by police officers from Lari in Kiambu County and her body booked at the Nairobi City Mortuary.
Dr. Oduor said her body had physical injuries, implying her killer was intentional. He added that additional samples have been taken for further tests crucial for investigators to piece together details of the crime.
“Mumbua’s body had several injuries which included severe head injury. The assailant hit her several times on the head. Further to that the assailant later on strangled her to death,” said the pathologist.
“There is also what looks like a defensive injury along the arms meaning that she was trying to defend herself also.”
Her family says the mother of three was only trying to fend for her children who have since been dealt a big blow.
“It will come to appoint we appeal to Kenyans to help us in terms of looking after those children and educate them. As a family we’ll come up with a Pay bill number which we will use to receive contributions from Kenyans where they can,” said Caroline Mbithe, a family member.

Detectives say the suspect in his confession revealed that on September 27, while in Mombasa, he requested a ride from Victoria.
An ambitious Victoria Mumbua thought the ride request would be like any other but unfortunately, the young mother would be abducted, tortured and killed
Midway through the journey, the assailant reportedly attacked her, assaulted her multiple times, and tied her to the back seat of the car.
He then took control of the vehicle and drove towards Nairobi. While passing through Kibwezi, the mother of three pleaded for her release.
Strangled
However, the assailant reportedly stopped the car, strangled her to death, and continued driving with her body.
The suspect eventually drove all the way to Mai Mahiu and dumped her body in a thicket near Lari, Kiambu County.
Having successfully eliminated his victim and disposing of the victim’s body, his last stop with Mumbua’s car was in Nakuru where he was arrested and detained.
Following his arrest, the suspect has led detectives to various locations, including Nakuru, Mt. Elgon, Uasin Gishu and Butere where police have recovered five motor vehicles.

Additionally, he faces two murder charges, and two charges related to robbery with violence, involving taxi drivers.
Police suspect that after abducting his victims, the suspect would use their motor vehicles to transport drugs or refugees as part of a human trafficking syndicate.
The police are currently investigating his confession to connect all the pieces of the crime.
Meanwhile, as the autopsy report of Victoria Mumbua was being revealed, a group of online taxi drivers took to the streets in Mombasa demanding justice for the brutal killing of the young mother.
The drivers protested demanding government intervention to ensure workplace safety and adequate protection following the death of their colleague.
“The guy who was arrested has committed similar crimes before, the recent one this year being one in July. He took a cab in Kisii and went ahead to murder the cab’s driver.
The driver was found murdered. If security agencies could have done their work well, and arrest him before he came to meet Victoria, she could have been alive,” said Lance Male, an online taxi driver.
Ruth Mauki, another female driver added, “We are in danger because we are not protected by the government. They are not protecting us because this person has been scot-free all along. We don’t understand and we want justice, this time we want justice this person has to pay for the killings he has done.”
The protests resulted to localized traffic disruptions within the city.
