Olkalau MP David Kiaraho claims he was carjacked and robbed of Sh700,000 and other valuables in Nairobi.
The MP says he was robbed at gunpoint.
According to a report filed at the Karen police station,Kiaraho says he was carjacked and driven around in his car before being robbed of the cash, ATM card and other valuables and later abandoned unharmed.
The MP told police that he had left a popular joint along James Gichuru road and had reached at the junction with Waiyaki Way at about 2am when he slowed down.
He was alone in the car when an armed robber stopped him at gunpoint.
Consequently, the gunman ordered him to lower his window and demanded that he opens the doors, which he obliged.
The gunman was later joined by two others who forced their way into his four wheel drive car and ordered him to drive off Waiyaki Way up to Muthiga area in Kikuyu.
Afterwards, the gang took control of the car and blindfolded him demanding cash, gun and other valuables from him as they drove around for almost two hours.
The robbers ransacked his car and stumbled on Sh700,000 that was hidden under the driver’s seat prompting them to change their mood.
The legislator begged them not to harm him and they later drove his car up to Miotoni Road in Karen where they abandoned him therein.
They jumped onto awaiting white salon car and drove off leaving Kiaraho on the backseat blindfolded.
Kiaraho was saved by guards who noticed the drama there and later drove to the police station where he made the report.
Police say the MP told them he is not interested in following the matter further because the attackers had spared him.
Police believe the gang is behind a string of robberies targeting high-end car owners in the city.
