Residents of Ruiru, Kiambu County, are living in fear following reports of a mysterious attacker who allegedly assaults victims and bites them at night.
The incidents have sparked anxiety among residents, with them calling on security agencies to intensify patrols in the area.
Residents of Gitothua have raised alarm over the safety of people moving at night. Victims and residents have described frightening encounters involving a suspect believed to be behind a series of attacks.
Residents Describe Fearful Encounters With Night Attacker
According to reports from residents, the suspected attacker has been targeting individuals during nighttime hours.

James Ndegwa was bitten by the assailant who attacked him, demanding his mobile phone. The two confronted and he was bitten on the hand. Ndegwa’s friend was also bitten by the person during the confrontation.
“I was attacked by an individual in the evening at 9 PM. We confronted him, and he held my left hand and bit my finger. After we finished with him, he also bit the other person, my friend, whom we were walking with to the shop. I saw him wearing a red jersey with yellow stripes,” said Ndegwa.
Another resident in the same area was earlier bitten on his cheeks, deforming his face.
Ruiru residents are now facing fear, and many of them are choosing to remain indoors during the night hours.
Following the attacks, Ruiru residents have now called o the police and relevant authorities to intervene in the situation, as it has caused disruption of normal routine.
The two individuals were taken to Kenyatta National Hospital where they were treated.
Police Confirm Two Victims Bitten as Hunt for Night Attacker Continues
The police have confirmed that two men have so far reported being bitten by an unidentified person who is suspected of moving around at night in parts of Ruiru.

According to police, the suspect is believed to operate from around 9pm, targeting individuals during late-night hours.
Ruiru Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Charles Kibathi said investigations are ongoing to establish the identity of the person behind the attacks. He noted that although the suspect has not yet been arrested, security teams have implemented measures to track and apprehend the individual.
According to Kibathi, the first incident was officially reported on July 11, 2026, and Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect strikes at night, although his identity remains unknown.
“We got the information and confirmed that the two men were bitten by an unknown person who walks at night from 9pm. From that point, we have not got the person, but we have put measures to ensure we arrest the person through collaboration with residents,” Kibathi said.
He has also called on members of the public to collaborate with them in investigating the matter to arrest the individuals.
