The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested two suspects impersonating Nyayo House immigration officers.
In a statement on Saturday, November 18, EACC said it arrested the two suspected fraudsters, identified as Patrick Kizengwa Kilaya and Billy Kidula Adingo on Thursday, November 16.
Further, the Commission explained that the two were pretending to be immigration officers and extorting money from persons seeking services such as passports and work permits.
“The two were arrested after soliciting Ksh.370,000 from a Norwegian National pretending that they were in a position to assist him in securing a Kenyan work permit and other immigration documents within minutes, so long as he gave them the money,” said EACC.
Additionally, EACC explained that the complainant reported the matter to the Commission which mounted an operation that led to the arrest of the suspects while receiving the amount.
The two suspects will be arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court next week.
Similarly, the Commission is investigating allegations that some Immigration Officials at Nyayo House are colluding with impostors to issue immigration documents irregularly and fraudulently.
“Any individual found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” warned EACC.
Besides, the Commission encouraged members of the public to continue exposing corruption at service delivery points to EACC through [email protected] or Toll-Free No. 1551.

PS Bitok Promise
Immigration and Citizen Services Principal Secretary Julius Bitok promised that the crackdown on suspected brokers and their accomplices linked to passports-issuance racket will be extended to other cities and towns outside Nairobi.
“The crackdown that is around Nyayo house will be extended other cities and towns like Mombasa, Kisumu, Kisii and many other places where there are complaints from Kenyans that are not able to get services because they’re people who are suspected to be abetting corruption,” said PS Bitok in a press statement on August 31.
Further, he said the government was determined to rid Nyayo House of conmen and middlemen who are suspected to be working with Immigration officers to extort bribes from applicants seeking passports and other services.
EACC Mombasa Port Arrest
This comes after EACC arrested three men in Mombasa for trying to bribe a police officer with Ksh.1.7 million.

In a statement on November 7, EACC said that the three suspects namely Philip Muigai Nduati, Boniface Aggrey Ouma and Isaac Wanaloba Kenyari attempted to bribe a Police Officer to influence investigations that she was carrying out relating to fraudulent deals at the Mombasa port.
“The Police Officer declined the Kes. 1.7 million offer and reported the matter to EACC. The three were processed at EACC Mombasa Offices and booked at Mombasa Central Police Station where they will spend the night pending arraignment tomorrow,” said EACC.
Furthermore, the Commission applauded the Police Officer who declined the bribe offer and instead reported the matter to EACC.
According to the Commission, the move to report the issue to EACC is what is expected of all public officials when they face such ethical dilemmas.
