Celebrated Kikuyu Mugithi star Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, resurfaced on Friday May 23 hours after he left fans and netizens deeply concerned over a cryptic post shared on social media.

In the message posted on the night of Thursday, May 22, which was later pulled down, Samidoh talked about an instance of unexpected death, suggesting that his life could be in danger.

Later, fans flocked to his social media accounts to encourage him. The singer, who also doubles up as a National Police Service (NPS) officer, was, however, on Friday morning, spotted with the Deputy President Kithure Kindiki in his office in Karen residence, Nairobi.

Samidoh was dressed sharply, his expression calm but unreadable. He stood alongside his fellow creatives who the Deputy President had met in Karen, offering no comment on the drama that had unfolded over the hours before.

According to Kindiki, he discussed with musicians and producers on how as Government can support their work and the industry as a whole.

“The Creative industry is a multibillion-shilling business and constant engagement with performing artists and all those in that space is imperative to find ways of supporting them through policy and protection of intellectual property rights,” said the DP.

Samidoh sends mixed signals

Though he never publicly explained the post, fans were left with a mixture of relief and unresolved concern.

The image of Samidoh standing silently in a government office said little, but it was relieving.

In the now-deleted post, he reflected on mortality, expressing that if he were to die prematurely, he had lived fully, tried his best, and wished to be remembered as someone whose heart burned with passion.

Although the original message was removed, screenshots have circulated widely, prompting discussions about his

The timing of this message coincided with his public celebration of his estranged wife Edday Nderitu’s birthday, who resides in the United States.

Additionally, a recent video surfaced showing Samidoh encouraging his audience to chant “Wantam” during a performance—a term associated with opposition rhetoric suggesting President William Ruto should serve only one term.

This led some to speculate that Samidoh was probably under political pressure or intimidation.

Others believed the post may be a form of clout-chasing or a response to personal challenges, including the loss of his foster father, Colonel (Rtd) James Gitahi, in March 2025.

Relationship Journey

Samidoh was married to Edday Nderitu for 15 years. Their marriage faced challenges starting in early 2021 when it became public that Samidoh and Karen Nyamu were an item.

Edday expressed her disapproval of the polygamous arrangement, stating she would not raise her children in such a setting.

In July 2023, she confirmed their separation, citing a toxic environment and the impact on their children as reasons for leaving.

Edday relocated to the United States with their three children and has since affirmed her decision to remain separated from Samidoh.

 Music career
The Mugithi maestro began his music journey as a church choir member before becoming a backup vocalist for Kikuyu musician Kamande wa Kioi.

While serving as a police officer, he released his debut single, Ndiri Mutwe Mwega, in 2016, which launched his career in Kikuyu Mugithi music.

Blending traditional Benga with modern sounds, he gained widespread popularity with hits like Kairitu Gakwa and Wendo Wi Cama.

Despite his musical fame, Samidoh continues to serve in Kenya’s Administration Police, balancing both professions with dedication.
