Child Abductions in Kenya
This incident comes amid the growing number of children missing in Kenya under unclear circumstances.
Lately, parents have reportedly raised concerns about the increasing abductions, with children aged ten years and below being the most targeted.
In March 2026, police dismantled a network in Nairobi’s Dandora and Njiru areas where three women were arrested for running a racket that sold newborn boys for Ksh30,000 and girls for Ksh25,000.
This plan mostly targets vulnerable women who have suffered miscarriages.
Elsewhere, in 2025, detectives rescued a 3-year-old boy who was stolen from his home in Ruiru, Kiambu county, in a swift pursuit that saw two male suspects taken to custody.
Storming one of the suspects’ houses in Tetu, Nyeri county, detectives found the minor in the company of the house owner (George Maina), and the man believed to have snatched him away from his Ruiru home (Samuel Juma), thereby rescuing him to safety and cuffing the two suspects.
