What Else Was in the Agreement

Additionally, under the agreement, UASU committed to immediately call off the industrial action upon execution of the agreement, which the Employment and Labour Relations Court was also to adopt to settle pending applications relating to the dispute.

University management also agreed not to victimise employees for participating in the strike or withdrawing their labour. Staff members, including those on contract, are to retain their jobs and benefits, and contract renewals will not be prejudiced by their participation in the industrial action.

The agreement further provides for the withdrawal of disciplinary proceedings initiated against employees during the strike. This includes show-cause letters, warning letters, interdictions, and other disciplinary measures, which will be revoked and expunged from the affected employees’ records.

Additionally, university management committed to withdrawing applications against UASU officials and employees arising from the industrial action.
