Every year, thousands of students across the country eagerly await the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services (KUCCPS) placement results, hoping to secure a spot in their preferred courses and institutions.

But for many, the dream of joining a specific university or studying a particular course is often cut short by one major hurdle—cluster points.

With limited slots and high competition, some students find themselves locked out of top-tier institutions or competitive programs, not because they failed, but because they fall short of the required cluster points.

As a result, many are now exploring alternative paths—opting for the same courses in universities that demand lower cluster points.

In this article, we explore KUCCPS courses with the lowest cluster points and the universities offering them.

KUCCPS Courses with the Lowest Cluster Points and Universities Offering Them

Bachelor of Science (Actuarial Science)

A Bachelor of Actuarial Science degree equips students with critical skills to assess and manage risk, especially in fields such as insurance, finance, and investment.

The course blends mathematical, statistical, and financial principles to help model and predict future uncertainties.

Despite its technical nature and high demand in the job market, Actuarial Science is surprisingly among the courses with the lowest cluster points in some universities.

Institutions such as Kisii University, KCA University, Tharaka University, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, Tom Mboya University, and Garissa University have set the cluster points for this course at just 18.831.

Other universities with the same entry point include the University of Kabianga, South Eastern Kenya University, Meru University of Science and Technology, Kabarak University, and Kirinyaga University.

Also listed among institutions offering this course at low cluster points are Daystar University, Karatina University, Murang’a University of Technology, Mount Kenya University, Zetech University, and the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

Bachelor of Arts

A Bachelor of Arts (BA) is a four-year undergraduate degree that focuses on humanities and social sciences.

It’s designed to develop critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills, while allowing students to specialize in a specific area of interest within the broader field of arts.

Multimedia University of Kenya and South Eastern Kenya University top the list with the lowest cluster points for the Bachelor of Education (Arts) course at 22.449.

Tharaka University and Bomet University College also offer the same course with similarly low entry points.

Similarly, a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology is among the courses with low entry requirements, recording cluster points of 22.449 at the University of Nairobi, Pwani University, and the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

In comparison, the same course at Chuka University requires 23.714 cluster points, Maseno University 23.721, and Tom Mboya University 23.729.

Bachelor of Science (Industrial Chemistry)

A Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Industrial Chemistry focuses on applying chemical principles to industrial processes and manufacturing.

It equips graduates with the knowledge and skills to work in various sectors related to the production, processing, and development of chemicals and materials.

The Bachelor of Science in Informatics is offered with a cluster point of 15.683 in several universities, including Tom Mboya University, Kisii University, the University of Embu, and Pwani University.

Other institutions with the same cluster points include Murang’a University of Technology, Mount Kenya University, Taita Taveta University, Chuka University, Multimedia University of Kenya, and Dedan Kimathi University of Technology.

Bachelor of Education Arts

The Programme is designed to train individuals to become secondary school teachers and educators, particularly in the humanities and arts.

It focuses on developing academic knowledge, teaching skills, and professional ethics, preparing graduates to effectively educate and mentor young learners.

The course is offered at several universities with a cluster point of 21.858 including Scott Christian University, Africa International University, and Kenya Highlands Evangelical University.

Presbyterian University of East Africa, Marist International University College, Islamic University of Kenya, Kiriri Women’s University, and The East African University also has the same points.
