KUCCPS (Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service) degree courses are government-recognised undergraduate programs offered by accredited Kenyan public and private universities, placed via centralised selection based on KCSE performance.
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has published the 2026 degree course clusters for prospective university students.
KUCCPS Degree Courses 2026 – Eligibility and Requirements
To apply for KUCCPS degree courses, students must meet the minimum KCSE requirements, usually a C+ mean grade or equivalent. Specific programs, such as Medicine, may require higher cluster points, typically 40 and above.
Other requirements are as follows;
- Provide the original KCSE index number for verification.
- Submit birth certificate or National ID details.
- Meet any course-specific cluster point thresholds.
- Indicate if applying for a government-sponsored or self-sponsored placement.
- Adhere to KUCCPS deadlines and guidelines for submission.
Applicants must have sat the KCSE exam between 2000 and 2026. They should also have their KCSE index number and birth certificate details ready for the application process.
Each student can select up to six degree program choices during the annual placement cycle, such as 2025/2026.
These include:
- First Choice (1a, 1b, 1c): the same degree course selected in three different universities
- Second, Third, and Fourth Choices: alternative degree courses or institutions
The courses are typically four years long and are coded uniquely for university administration, for example, 1241101 for the Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Nairobi.
Priority is often given to government-sponsored slots, and eligibility verification ensures students meet both general and program-specific entry requirements.
