Merishaw School is a prestigious boys-only secondary institution located in Kajiado County. Founded in 2022, the school made a remarkable debut in Kenya’s education landscape, outperforming long-established high school giants to emerge as the top-performing institution in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, released in January 2025.

The state-of-the-art private school offers the national curriculum under the 8-4-4 system (Form 3–4 as of 2026) as well as the Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum at both junior (Grade 7–9) and senior secondary levels (Grade 10–12).

Branded as the “Home of the Boy Child,” Merishaw focuses on science, technology, innovation, and physical education—positioning itself as a leader in nurturing well-rounded learners prepared for future challenges.

The institution adopts a holistic approach to education, combining academic excellence with robust extracurricular development. It boasts modern facilities, including fully equipped science laboratories, technology-integrated learning environments, and vibrant co-curricular programs.

The school, which prides itself on transforming boys into men of purpose and integrity, offers international-standard sports facilities and talent development programs. Notably, Merishaw School is recognized as a national lacrosse center.

Merishaw School shines in KCSE 2024

Under the leadership of former Alliance High School Principal David Kariuki, Merishaw School achieved an impressive mean score of 10.5686 (A–) in the 2024 KCSE.

The institution outshone traditional academic powerhouses, with Alliance High School placing second at 10.31, Kapsabet Boys High School third with 10.145, and Kenya High School fourth with 10.145.

This accomplishment is particularly significant as it marked Merishaw School’s inaugural participation in the national examinations, barely three years since its founding.

All 51 students in the school’s pioneer KCSE 2024 cohort attained university-qualifying grades of C+ and above. The performance breakdown included seven students with straight A’s, 23 with A–, 16 with B+, one with B–, and one with C+.

School fees

Students from diverse backgrounds are admitted to Merishaw, and applicants must sit for a written entrance examination.

New students are required to pay two fees upon admission: an admission fee of Ksh10,500, which covers costs related to the admission process, and a caution fee of Ksh10,000.

The caution fee is refundable upon termination of the admission contract, provided the school receives one full term’s written notice while the student is still in active session; if this notice is not provided, the caution fee is forfeited.

According to Merishaw School’s comprehensive 2025 fee structure, students in Grade 7 were charged Ksh157,664 per term, while those in Grade 8 paid Ksh159,016.

The termly fee for Grade 9, on the other hand, was Ksh160,784. Students in Grade 10 and Form 3 each paid Ksh170,352 per term. In addition, Form 2 students were charged Ksh165,152, and the highest published termly fee was for Form 4 at Ksh171,392.

These figures represent the combined cost of tuition and boarding for one term and do not include other mandatory fees such as clubs and co-curricular activities, medical ERS, remedial tuition, CBC projects, or the coding fee.

Specific details regarding the application process, admissions, fee structure, and scholarships can be obtained directly from the principal’s office, the Merishaw School website, or by contacting the school’s management.
