Ng’iya Girls High School is a public national girls’ boarding secondary school located in Siaya County.
The school draws students from across the country and is classified as a C1 institution under the Ministry of Education framework.

The school traces its origins to 1923, when it was founded as a primary school to expand access to formal education in the Ng’iya area of Siaya County. As demand for higher learning grew, it was upgraded into a secondary school in 1962.

The learning institution introduced “O” Level examinations in 1965 and later expanded to offer “A” Level education in 1971, strengthening its academic profile and preparing learners for university education.
Following national education restructuring, the A-Level stream was eventually phased out during the transition to Kenya’s 8-4-4 system.
Ng’iya Girls was officially elevated to National School status in 2012, allowing it to admit top-performing students from across Kenya.

With the full transition from KCPE to KPSEA and the introduction of KJSEA, senior school placement from January 2026 is now based on learner performance at the Junior Secondary level under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework.

In the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, the school recorded impressive results, with a high transition rate to university.
The school presented 452 candidates for the KCSE, with a mean score of 8.6150. The top-performing student, Rebecca Ngoya, scored an A (plain), leading a cohort that delivered one of the best results in the county.

The distribution of grades for 2025 was as follows: 1 student attained an A (plain), 14 achieved A-, 116 scored B+, 173 earned B (plain), 66 obtained B-, 37 received C+, 19 got C (plain), 13 scored C-, 6 had D+, 7 attained D (plain), and none scored D- or E. 90.04% of the candidates transitioned to university.
School fees
Ng’iya Girls operates as a Category C1 Senior School and adheres to government-regulated fee structures. In line with the Ministry of Education and Free Day Secondary Education (FDSE) policy, the maximum boarding fee is Ksh53,554 per year.
These fees are capped by the government, and no public school may exceed the approved limits. The fee structure remains subject to updates and official circulars from the Ministry.
