The National Police Service (NPS) has announced a nationwide police recruitment drive, a day after the Employment and Labour Relations Court ruled that the mandate for police recruitment lies with the Office of the Inspector General of Police and not the National Police Service Commission.
In a notice dated Friday, October 31, 2025, the National Police Service invited qualified candidates to apply for the available positions.
“Pursuant to Article 238.243 244 245 as read with Articles 10,27(8) and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya and the National Police Service (NPS) is pleased to announce to the public the upcoming recruitment of suitably qualified persons to be trained as Police Constables,” read part of the notice.
According to the NPS, the recruitment exercise will commence on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at all designated recruitment centres across the country. All applicants are required to report to their respective recruitment centres by 8:00 a.m.
Requirements Needed to Qualify for Police Recruitment
Applicants will be required to meet the following minimum requirements:
a) Be a citizen of Kenya:
b) Hold a Kenya National Identity Card,
c) Age: 18-28 years:
d) Minimum grade in KCSE D+ (with a minimum of D in English or Kiswahili):
e) Be physically and medically fit:

Minimum Height: Male 5ft 8in., Female 5ft 3in..
f) Have no criminal record or pending criminal charges.
g) Female Candidates must not be pregnant at recruitment and during the ENTIRE training period.
National Youth Service (NYS) graduates who meet minimum entry requirements are encouraged to apply.

Interested and qualified applicants are required to download and fill out the prescribed application form, available on any of the following official websites:

Upon filling in the forms, applicants must present themselves at the designated Recruitment Centers with original and copies of the following documents on the day of the recruitment:
a) Academic certificates and testimonials
b) Kenya National Identity Card
c) Birth Certificate
d) NYS discharge certificate, where applicable, with a minimum rating of “GOOD” in conduct
e) NYS graduates who meet the minimum entry requirements are encouraged to present themselves at their respective home recruitment centers.

Additionally, the NPS stated that its recruitment process will be fair, and those found engaging in bribery will be committing a criminal offense.
“The National Police Service recruitment drive is open to all eligible and qualified candidates. engaging in bribery or any other form of corrupt practices with the intent to influence the recruitment process constitutes a criminal offense,” said NPS.
The NPS further warned that those who willfully provide the National Police Service with any false or misleading information in any material particular commit an offense and will be prosecuted.
