Jogoo Road Police Station is an established security facility in Nairobi’s Makadara area, serving eight estates in Nairobi Eastlands.
The station is located along Jagoo Lane, off Eastlands Crescent, in the Maringo/Hamza area near Makadara Law Courts.
Among the estates served by the police station are Maringo, Hamza, Mbotela, Bahati, Jericho and neighboring communities.
“Jogoo Police Station covers eight estates, among them Bahati, Ofafa, Jericho, Maringo and Kimanthi. The station is basically cosmopolitan because it serves citizens from across the country,” Chief Inspector Dennis Sohera explained on October 18.
Services Offered To the Public
Jogoo Road Police Station handles complaints, documents incidents, investigates suspected offenses, and responds to security concerns.
Under the leadership of Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Chief Inspector Dennis Sohera, the station has improved cooperation with the public to address crime in its jurisdiction.
According to Sohera, officers use crime-pattern information to guide deployments and concentrate patrols in areas where particular offenses have been reported.

The station also works with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and other relevant departments to trace and arrest suspects.
Sohera identified domestic violence cases reported as assaults and muggings in parts of Bahati as among the key concerns being handled by officers.
Following the high number of cases, the station introduced targeted patrols guided by crime patterns, along with vehicle and foot patrols, to increase police visibility and discourage criminal activity.
“Generally, the station is well policed; we don’t have serious criminal incidents that are reported, but mainly the issues we are dealing with are cases of domestic violence reported as assaults and the issues of muggings within areas of Bahati. I have deployed what we call targeted patrols, whereby, we can deploy officers in the areas that are prone to these crimes,” OCS Sohera noted.
To reach members of the public, the police station uses WhatsApp groups and phone numbers that allow citizens to report on criminal activities in the station’s jurisdiction.
Sohera maintains that his main role as the OCS in the station is to ensure that the police station is well equipped and ready to serve the public by providing world-class services.

History And Development of Jogoo Road Police Station
According to Kenya’s parliamentary proceedings, Jogoo Police Station existed before June 2000.
More recently, the Eastlands Urban Renewal Plan 2016–2036 identified the station as an existing security facility that should be retained and upgraded.
The renewal plan recommends additional security infrastructure and the use of information and communications technology to improve crime detection and response at the police station.
