Late Benga Musician John DeMathew’s son has posted impressive results in the just-announced Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education 2024 results.
The mother Carolyne DeMathew took to her Facebook account to express her heartfelt congratulations, to her son Tyrese Thiiru.
“He is called the God of widows. Congratulations my Tyrese. Will you also say I have bribed my way through this one?” wrote Carolyne.
Demathew’s son picked up in Limousine after KCSE
DeMathew’s widow stunned Kenyans online after picking up his son in a posh limousine after completing his KCSE exams in November 2024. The limousine was decorated with balloons and stickers written ‘Congratulations my Tyrese’.
She termed the completion of her son’s secondary school education at Thika High School, a great achievement.

“Today am the happiest woman on this planet earth. Have you seen what the Lord has done? This is what I prayed for,” wrote Carolyne.
Carolyne is the second wife of the late Kikuyu Benga musician John Ng’anga, better known as John DeMathew. He passed on in 2019 through a grisly road accident along the Thika Superhighway.
At the time of his demise, DeMathew served as the chairman of the newly established Tamco Sacco which was formed to uplift musicians.
Inheritance wrangles
Carolyne has however been involved in inheritance wrangles with the late singer’s first wife Sarafina DeMathew. She alleged that Sarafina blocked her from all of DeMathew’s proceeds from his work.

In 2023, Carolyne hinted that Sarafina had won the legal battle that had gotten to the high court. She had gone to court seeking reinstatement as one of the singer’s beneficiaries.
She has also established herself on matters of content creation. Carolyne runs a YouTube channel that has twenty-seven thousand subscribers. She posts content about her life, her family, and her children.
