Amerix is a household name in the X community in Kenya. The influencer, whose real name is Eric Amunga became X sensation for the hashtag #MasculinitySaturday.
Amerix uses the hashtag to interact with his X followers every Saturday to advise men on issues such as relationships, health and finances.
It all began when he got a message from a follower who was on the brink of depression leading to the birth of Masculinity Saturday.
He recently clashed with Al Jazeera media over his masculinity posts.
Amerix shared screenshots of an email he received from a journalist working with the international media outlet saying that some of their interviewees suggest that his weekly masculinity teachings demean women.
Al Jazeera’s documentary about Amerix’s posts has prompted a debate on X with a section supporting the medical specialist and others backing the media house.
Amerix Biography
Amerix is Luhya from Bungoma County. He turned 37 years old in 2024.
He studied at The University of Nairobi (UoN) from 2008 and graduated in 2011.
Amerix is a certified reproductive medicine specialist, weight loss coach, and masculinity coach headquartered in Bungoma.
His areas of consultancy are Obesity, Diabetes and sexual health.
However, he also helps men beat addiction towards pornography, masturbation, smoking and alcohol.
Net Worth
Although his net worth is not public, it is estimated at around Ksh5 million as of 2023.
Amerix has created his wealth through salary having worked for five years in the government and is also earning from his private consultancy practice.

Who is Amerix’s Wife?
Amerix surprised many people when he revealed that he was married during an interview with NTV.
He is a husband to four wives and a father of two sons.
However, little details have been established regarding his polygamous family.

University Scholarship & Politics
In 2015, Amerix won the Mandela Washington Fellowship following his Initiative on educating young people on contraceptive use and teenage pregnancies.
This allowed him to join the University of Minnesota where he studied Public Management.
In 2016, he vied for the Bungoma Central Ward seat on an ODM ticket.
He was a bigger supporter of Raila Odinga.
“A Bungoma-based Doctor Eric Amunga @amerix has shown interest in the Bungoma Central Ward seat on the ODM ticket. We wish him well,” ODM said in a statement.

Fighting Obesity
Amerix struggled with obesity in 2018.
In a past interview, the doctor said he embraced a fitness lifestyle to lose weight loss journey.
He lost 40kgs in seven months.
“The experience was burdensome and torturous at the start; I almost gave up, but I was resilient. I pressed on until I began seeing small changes. The results kept me pushing further until I reached my periodic targets,” he said.
Drama Coach
Beyond his medical career, Amerix is also a drama coach.
He has written award-winning plays.
He coached the drama club at Friends School Kamusinga in Bungoma County.
In 2019, they became number one at the Western Regions School Drama Festival Play.
In 2021, his direction of the play Hamlet secured the second play nationwide.
The school was also number two at the national level with their play “The Walls of Jericho”.
