Afya Centre is a popular commercial building in Nairobi, Kenya, located along Tom Mboya Street. It is a 21-storey building known for its distinctive green exterior.
Nairobi residents and visitors have used it as a landmark and meeting point since it is easy to spot.

When people get lost, they use the building to start fresh and locate their destination.
The building is owned by shareholders of Afya Investments Co-Operative Society Limited, commonly known as Afya Sacco.

“We own 16 residential maisonettes located at Kamburu Drive off Ngong Road and Afya Co-operative Center, a 21-storey high-rise building, situated in Nairobi City,” the Society states.
Afya Centre Rentals & Income
The building is a hub for commercial activities housing various offices, businesses, and medical facilities.

The income collected from the buildings flows back to members as dividends which are distributed yearly.
“Afya Investments are fully owned by the shareholders of Afya Sacco. Both the maisonettes and Co-operative House are rented out to generate income for members.
Besides, the rentals Afya Centre serves as the Headquarters of both the Afya Sacco Society and the Front Office Services Activities of the Sacco (FOSA).

Afya Sacco Foundation & Membership
Afya Sacco was established on May 8, 1971, by 20 founding members.
It has expanded to serve over 38,000 members, primarily from the healthcare sector over the past five decades.
Society’s primary objective is to promote a culture of accelerated monthly savings among members, facilitating loan disbursements for provident and productive purposes.
Any interested Kenyan can join the Sacco by filling out a membership application form either online or at any branch countrywide.
Afterwards, they have to pay a one-time fee of Ksh1,000 and purchase at least 1,000 shares at Ksh20 each, totalling Ksh20,000.
They receive a membership card After completing this process.
All members must contribute a minimum of Ksh3,000 per month in shares and can withdraw from the Sacco at any time.

Board of Directors
Afya Sacco’s Board of Directors comprises nine members including Beatrice M. Mogire the National Chairperson and Henry K. Kosgei who is the National Vice Chairman.
Other members are Alex W. Maweu (honorary secretary), Charles K. Ottaro (national treasurer) and Peter Gisemba (chief executive officer).
The Sacco has five directors: Prudenciana K. Wafula, Paul K. Kiptoo, Jacklyne D. A. Obonyo, Benson M. Mbae and James Njuguna.
