Parrot Group is an Events and Marketing Company owned by businessman Juma Khamis Mohammed, popularly known as Jay.
The Company consists of Parrot Universal Sounds, Parrot Concepts Ltd, and Parrot Eye Marketing.
Juma dropped out of secondary school while in form two due to a lack of school fees and started hawking mitumba clothes in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
In a past interview, Juma narrated how his hustle landed him in problems, including arrest by Nairobi City Council Officers.
Until you have carried on with the existence of a peddler, you will have no clue about what sufferings are. But I am grateful that work provided a road degree.
How Juma Started Parrot Group of Companies
He ventured into Events and Marketing by identifying people who wanted to organize an event but didn’t know how to go about it.
Juma would step in, plan the event, and supply the necessary equipment to the participants.
He went ahead to register the business under the brand name Parrot Group.
Juma revealed that he had never been involved in event planning and got help from other people to run the business.
“My occupation was to observe people who expected to put together an occasion yet did not have the foggiest idea how. Then I would come in and help them plan and the equipment they required,” he said.

Juma First Deals
His breakthrough came when Parrot Group was contracted by Orange (now Telkom) to promote their ‘Kaduda’ mobile phones.
This was followed by lucrative deals from Airtel Kenya and Stanbic Bank.
“In any event, during the publicizing of the low-end ‘Kadunda’ cell phone, Parrot has conceded an agreement with Orange’s branding. That was a turning point for us,” he said.
He has since worked with big corporates like M-Kopa, Lenovo, and CMC Motors.
They also worked with top politicians, including former Nairobi Women Representative Rachael Shebesh, former Isiolo Governor Godana Doyo, and former Narok Governor Samuel Tanui.
