Mathare Member of Parliament (MP) Anthony Oluoch has lost his father, Mzee Charles Antony Ondiek.
Ondiek’s death was announced by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Raila Odinga.
In a statement on September 24, Raila said Ondiek had been battling cancer for 15 years.
It is with great sorrow that I have learned of the passing of your beloved father, Mzee Charles Antony Ondiek, following a courageous 15-year battle with cancer. I know this is an incredibly painful loss to your family, and I pray that you find the strength and comfort to endure this heartbreaking time.
Raila Mourns Charles Antony Ondiek
Raila described Ondiek as a pillar of the community and the entire Kisumu County.
“I knew Mzee well, having worked with him at the Kenya Bureau of Standards in the 1970s, and Kanyakwar has indeed lost a towering pillar of the community as has the greater Kisumu County,” Raila said.
Raila sent a condolence note to Oluoch and the entire Ondiek family.
He finished with a prayer for peace and comfort, assuring the family of divine strength as they mourn.
Please accept my deepest condolences, and kindly extend the same to your entire family, friends, and all those who were close to Mzee. May the Almighty God be with you during this difficult time and may Mzee’s soul rest in eternal peace.

Anthony Oluoch Career
Oluoch has been serving as Mathare MP since August 2017.
He studied law at the University of Nairobi, obtaining his LLB in 2002.
Oluoch completed a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law in 2006.
He started his professional career as an associate advocate at Lumumba, Mumma & Kaluma Advocates from 2002 to 2006.

He moved to Lumumba & Lumumba Advocates as a junior partner from 2007 to 2008.
Oluoch launched A.T. Oluoch & Company Advocates in 2009.
He worked as a partner and proprietor at the institution until 2017 when he joined politics.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts with honours in Literature, Sociology, and Philosophy from Kenyatta University between 1989 and 1992.
