Full List of SHA-Approved Hospitals and Health Facilities in Bungoma County

Bungoma County residents enrolled under the Social Health Authority (SHA) can access treatment in licensed healthcare facilities across the county’s nine sub-counties.

Bungoma County has public referral hospitals, sub-county hospitals, health centers, maternity homes, nursing homes, dental clinics, eye centers, and private hospitals approved to provide services under the SHA framework.

According to the SHA provider registry, all approved facilities licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) are eligible to provide services covered under the healthcare scheme.

Public Hospitals in Bungoma

Bungoma County Referral Hospital is the highest-level public facility operating under the SHA framework in the county.

The Level 5 hospital serves as the main referral center for patients requiring specialized treatment, advanced diagnostics, surgical care, maternal healthcare, and emergency medical services.

Level 4 sub-county hospitals include Bokoli Sub-County Hospital, Chwele Sub-County Hospital, Webuye Sub-County Hospital, Bumula Sub-County Hospital, Kimilili Sub-County Hospital, Mt. Elgon Sub-County Hospital, and Sirisia Sub-County Hospital.

The county also has approved public health centers at the level 3B, including Kabula Health Center, Nalondo Model Hospital, Webuye Health Center, Tongaren Model Health Center, Kimaeti Health Center, Malakisi Health Center, Milo Health Center, Mechimeru Health Center, and Sinoko Sub-County Hospital.

SHA-Approved Private Hospitals

In addition to government facilities, Bungoma has a private healthcare network providing inpatient and outpatient services, maternity care, specialized clinics, laboratory services, and surgical services.

Among the highest-level private facilities approved by SHA are the Bungoma West Hospital and Lifecare Hospitals Bungoma Ltd, which serve as private level 5 facilities in the county.

SHA-approved Level 4 hospitals include New Elgon View Medical Cottage, Khalaba Medical Services, Nabuala Hospital, Fountain Healthcare Ltd Bungoma, Zion Medical Centre-Bungoma Limited, Kory Family Hospital Kimilili, The Dawameds Hospital Limited, The Hopkins Crescent Hospitals Limited, Oasis Doctors Plaza Webuye Limited, Maxicare Sunrise Limited Hospital, and The Webuye Hospital Limited.
