Sarah Hassan is a celebrated Kenyan actress, producer, and former television host, widely admired for her versatility and contribution to the country’s entertainment industry.
Born on September 5, 1988, in Mombasa, Kenya, she is the only child of her parents.
Over the years, she has established herself as one of the most prominent figures in Kenyan film and television, known for her memorable roles in productions such as Tahidi High, Zora, and the internationally acclaimed film Plan B.
Beyond acting, Sarah runs her own production company, Alfajiri Productions, through which she has produced Kenyan films and series.
She was a wife to Martin Dale, and they had a son, but she announced their divorce after seven years of marriage.

Education
Sarah’s academic journey began at Machakos Girls’ High School, after which she joined Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science.
Later, she decided to follow her passion for film and, in 2016, enrolled at the New York Film Academy, where she studied television and film, sharpening her skills as both an actress and filmmaker.

Sarah began acting at the tender age of five but rose to fame in 2009 when she starred as “Tanya” in the popular Kenyan drama series Tahidi High.
Her role made her a household name and offered many opportunities in both film and television.
She has since appeared in a wide range of productions, including Crime and Justice, Zora, 40 Sticks, Just in Time, Demigods, Saints, House of Lungula, Now That You’re Here, Love or Die, How to Find a Husband, Anyango and the Ogre, and Plan B.
Through Alfajiri Productions, Sarah has expanded her career into producing. Among her notable works are the short film “The Company You Keep” and the feature films “Plan B” and “Just in Time,” both of which are available on Netflix, cementing her status as a leading force in the East African entertainment industry.

Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) awarded by President William Ruto in December 2024 for her contribution to Kenya’s film industry.
Best Lead Actress in a TV Series, Kalasha Awards for her role in the film Zari in 2023.
She was named Best Lead Actress in a TV Series at the Kalasha Awards for Crime and Justice in 2021.
In 2020, she won Best Film at the Kalasha Awards for 40 Sticks, among others.
